[20 Jan 2007|12:50pm]

[ mood | excited ]

After I got my new job the first thing I did was join netflix. Now I can go crazy. Please recommend any and all movies you deem worth seeing.

I may have already seen them, but hopefully I'll find a few that I haven't. Thanks in advance.

[23 Dec 2006|10:33pm]

Can anyone tell me the French phrase used to describe a common misunderstanding in comedy? I just can't seem to remember what it is.

P.S. The History Boys was great, a must-see if you're a fan of British comedy.

Favourite Christmas Films [24 Dec 2006|03:23am]
In an attempt to find some kind of festive spirit when everyone is worn down, jaded or cynical, stressed out or apathetic - I'm lookin' for some christmas movies to stumble upon and find great happiness from (here's hoping). I loved them when I was a kid, but now, it seems like I've seen most of the worthwhile ones, so in particular any slightly less commercial films would be much appreciated (but still ones that I can hope to be obtain from a rental store/download tomorrow).

I hope it snows. I hope, I hope.

Gorillaz Demon Days Live DVD did just that

I know it may not be the best thing YOU have ever seen, but for some weird reason, it has made my life different...

I love you DVD...

The Fountain [23 Nov 2006|12:33am]

I saw Darren Aronofsky's new film, The Fountain, tonight. I posted a little blurb about it in my journal, but that's friends-only so I'll re-post it here. Anyone else seen it yet?

The Fountain was absolutely stunning. I have never seen such a raw and unconventional movie in my life. It was INCREDIBLE.

Our Planet... [22 Nov 2006|09:45pm]

I watched An Inconvenient Truth today, and it blew me away. The devastation and ignorance regarding what is happening on our planet is overwhelming. My eyes became misty, and I cried sporadically. But I wear my tears like a badge of integral honor.

How can we sit by and watch our earth disintegrate?

In my head I screamed at the blatantly intelligence-challenged Republicans. Fuck you, Mr. Bush, you fucking Warmonger. You can’t fight off this enemy. You can’t kill it. How can you ignore everyone and everything around you? How dare you? Why are you so blind?

You’re killing our future. How dare you?

John Waters [14 Nov 2006|01:58pm]

Anyone a John Waters fan?

His works include most famously Cecil B. Demented, Serial Mom, Hair Spray, Pink Flamingos, A Dirty Shame, and he acted in Seed of Chucky (brightening up the film a bit).

Well, this Saturday he is having a kind of Speaker/Q&A/Stand-Up thing close to where I live, and I get to go see him. He's so funny; I'm very excited!

DVD artwork template [20 Oct 2006|04:35pm]

Hey graphic artist types, I have a question for you all...

Where can i get a template for making a DVD box cover in photoshop?
Of course I could just get a ruler and measure one of the many DVD boxes I’ve got, but I’m sure I’ll botch it will have to redo it a dozen times to get it right.

ANybody know where there's one online? Or maybe you’ve done one and send/e-mail it to me?

[21 Sep 2006|04:23pm]

I managed to grab a hold of the Brazil 3-dvd set, which had both the director's cut and the "Love Conquers All" version (edited for tv). I was wondering if anyone here has seen both cuts, and what they thought of how different the versions were.

The director's cut holds my preference, with all of the strange dream sequences and more of a government conspiracy idea hinted at. Whereas the tv-edited cut had only two of his dreams, and was rearranged in such a way that not much further thinking was required.
